The Task
Digital Gambit was approached by IMO Car Wash to work with them on their partnership with popular bakery chain Greggs. IMO wanted to issue QR codes as a bonus when their customers bought an Ultra HD wash, which could be exchanged for a treat from Greggs. In November, lucky customers could get a free Sausage Roll or Vegan Sausage Roll, and in January the reward was a hot drink.
The project involved designing Greggs branded pages within the app payment funnel and IMO’s Quick Pay checkout, as well as producing branded email templates to include the Greggs QR codes. IMO needed a seamless way to integrate these codes into their system, making sure the whole process worked smoothly for their customers.
Our Approach
To make sure the promotions went off without a hitch, we worked closely with voucher provider, Eagle Eye, to integrate their API into both checkouts. This API would create one-time-use QR codes for each eligible purchase. Since we were already using Eagle Eye’s Create Token API for Quick Pay, we were able to quickly tap into this system to generate the codes and keep track of how many were still available during the campaign.
We also gave both the app payment funnel and Quick Pay checkouts a full Greggs visual makeover. We updated the product listings to feature Greggs branding, including all the details of the offer. Terms and conditions were clearly displayed for customers, and a sausage roll or hot drink icon was added to show which products were eligible. Customer receipts were updated with promotional QR codes for redemption, designed with Greggs branding to make sure everything felt cohesive and on-brand.
Knowing that future promotions will use a similar setup, we made sure to build the integration to be as reusable as possible. While we continued discussions with IMO to ensure the system would work for any future campaigns, we made sure everything on our end was flexible enough to adapt with minimal effort.
In terms of tracking and reporting, we tagged every qualifying purchase in the transaction logs to ensure IMO could easily monitor the success of the campaign. We also had live monitoring in place to ensure successful delivery of the QR codes and uptime of the Eagle Eye API.

By working closely with both the IMO Car Wash team and Eagle Eye, the Greggs campaigns have been a great success. The integration was smooth, and the branding was spot on, creating a fun and seamless experience for customers. The flexibility we built into the system means IMO will be able to run similar campaigns in the future with minimal effort, making it a long-term win for them.

Overall, this project was a great example of how we help our clients engage their customers in creative ways with partner collaborations, while also keeping things simple and scalable for future use.
